When I first heard the uprising in the Country Club Neighborhood of Flag City USA, Findlay, Ohio, I was mildly interested in how a so called “Christian” community could turn their backs so quickly and so emotionally on women being offered a second chance. Okay, you didn’t want a rehab house in your neighborhood. I could live with such a decision.
Hidden in Save Our Neighborhood’s LLC holier than thou agenda was preventing the Blanchard Valley Center from purchasing a home for 5 developmentally disabled men. Apparently, these 5 developmentally disabled men, who lived at Blanchard Valley Center for years, were “ruining their American dream” … Huh? How does an organization complying with new federal mandates on integration of their clients into the community (opposed to a single dwelling like BVC) ruin your American dream?
Here’s your joke of a website … what, save your kids from having to see the more unfortunate side of society? Save your kids from learning about people with disabilities? Save your kids from learning about compassion? About forgiveness? Save your kids from learning about the parable of the Good Samaritan?
Hidden in all the rehab house rhetoric were people just as adamant about men with developmental disabilities, God’s unwanted children, living somewhere else other than their neighborhood.
You’re despicable people. Having that kind of hatred for people with developmental disabilities. Wanting them to live somewhere else so you don’t have to look at them. Those attitudes regarding people with developmental disabilities is so 1950s … ignore it, hide it …
Matthew 7 1-2: Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Of course, people like Save Our Neighborhoods LLC only pay attention to the parts of the bible they want to … ignoring the parts that are inconvenient.
Knowing I live in a town where these kind of attitudes persist … how un-American … make me think of those who lost their lives protecting the very freedom you take for granted in your holier than thou glass house on the hill deciding who can live in your neighborhood and who can’t.
